1. Motivation: The teacher will ask the pupils to listen quietly to the
following sounds:
·
The beat of their heart / pulse
·
The steady sound of electrical appliances
inside the room (electric fan, clock)
·
The rustling of the wind or the buzzing of
the streets outside the classroom.

beats or ostinato, perform steady beats by means of chanting, walking, tapping,
and clapping, listen to steady beats in musical instruments, and apply new
learning in becoming a better listener or follower.
B. Interaction
1. Presentation:
· The teacher will ask the pupils to listen to
a certain musical piece that he/she will play. Pupils will be asked to draw on a sheet of paper what they have visualized from the music that they have heard.
Some pupils will be called to explain what they have drawn and why this reminds
them of the music being played.
· The teacher will introduce various ways that
will show a regular or steady beat (claps, stomps, etc.)
2. Comparison and Abstraction:
· Pupils will be asked again if they heard a
regular or steady sound or beat in the music played. Pupils will be asked to
listen to the music again.
3. Generalization:
What is Ostinato?
C. Integration:
1. Application:
Pupils
will be grouped together. They will be asked to produce steady beats and sounds
using their hands and feet. Each group will be given 5 minutes to practice and
2 minutes to present.
2. Valuing:
·
After all the groups have performed, they
will be asked about what they have learned in relation to beat.
·
The pupils will be asked the following
questions:
a. Did you have fun doing the group activity? Were you able to create
steady sounds or beats?
b. What did you learn apart from having a better understanding of ostinato?
c. What is needed from among your members in order to create steady sounds
or beats?

The teacher will try to elicit the importance
of cooperation, being a good listener, and follower.
